How do you seize the moment? Have you ever heard of Carpe Deim? It means “seize the day.” You may seize the day, but seize the moment as well. Make the moment count. New opportunities can come your way if you take advantage of the moment. Use the moment to make the lemonade sweet, not bitter. Seizing the moment means making the most of what’s in front of you. Seizing the moment shapes the course of any action that follows. Change is good, but not always. Seizing the moment can provide a new opportunity for growth. Like a singer on a stage, the spotlight is on their performance. The singer’s performance must be in the moment. And when say that all the world’s a stage, we must seize our own performances. Life lends us all the greatest opportunities to shine. To make our voices heard. To make a difference. And to impact the lives of others. Seize the moment while it is still there. We must aspire to do so.

Jasmine Crockett asked a question during a congressional hearing on May 17th, 2024. She asked, “To better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee starts talking about someone’s bleach blonde, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalizes?” as her fellow congressmen were holding off laughter in the background. Her statement, “blonde, bad-built butch body,” propelled her into the spotlight for several days. Social media was a buzz. There were songs and memes created about it. She herself has explainied it in interviews. Congresswoman Crockett was defending herself against racist troupes from conservatives. It was her colleague, Marjorie Taylor Greene’, negative statement about her eyelashes that prompted her to ask the question that included the catchphrase. As a former attorney, she understood how she had a right to defend herself. She understood the importance of a question, no matter how it was asked. Congresswoman Crockett announced several days later that she had filed a trademark for the catchphase. She further announced that the money raised from the merchandise created with the trademark statement would be used to support other Democrats running for House seats. Conclusion: Seize your moment. Turn evil into good

We don’t have to seize the moment the way Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett did. We all have our everyday moments of life to seize. I’m seizing my moment right now on this blog by talking about her work and appreciating what she is doing. She is not letting the bad outweigh the good that she can do. We can all take a page from her moment and learn how to seize ours. There is no guarantee in life that any moment like this will ever come again. Life is a gift worth living. You have to shoot for the stars in order to catch them. So seize the moment, whatever it is.
