Pilgrimage
I stumbled upon Brina Patel’s review of “The Rumi Prescription” on Medium and found it captivating. Here is the link to the original review.
Intrigued by her insights, I promptly added the book to my to-be-read list. However, a sudden impulse urged me not to postpone experiencing it. Acting on this feeling, I embarked on listening to the audiobook of “The Rumi Prescription.”
The author’s eloquent beginning deeply resonated with me, and I found myself moved by the narration. One particular poem from the book struck a chord:
“You went out in search of gold, far and wide.
But all along you were gold on the inside.”
Although I’m just beginning to explore the mystic poet’s work, I feel compelled to share a brief poem of my own titled ‘Pilgrimage’ as I immerse myself in the profound teachings of Rumi.
Pilgrimage
I have long been wanting, to visit my sacred place
first it was the days, buried under books
and then it was hours, burnt at work
by the time I looked back
I have more than halved the time on this planet
have I run out of the desire to travel
to unravel the secrets, that lay dormant in my sacred place ?
that’s when a wise man’s words
resonated in me
I don’t have to travel to distant lands
The distances dissolve within me
I don’t have to hear holy discourses
When all the answers lay deep within me
I don’t have to look for something
When everything is within me
I don’t have to arrive at a destination
When the source thrives in me
I have long been wanting to visit my sacred place
and the time has come to look within me!
Happy Reading and happy Rumi-nations!!
