A lifetime of meh isn’t going to cut it

Where have the last two years gone? — Image by banksadam on Pixabay

Like so many others, I’ve spent the previous two years on autopilot. Although it wasn’t by choice, we’ve all hunkered down and settled into a lifestyle of routine habits. Each day, we get up and perform the same things we did yesterday. Maybe we do these things a little differently than the day before, but the outcome is typically the same.

What stunned me this morning was the realization that I’ve been living a life of, well, meh. It’s been a life of nothing very spectacular. I’ve just been floating along, traveling the path of least resistance. My lifestyle has been a life of shying away from risk-taking and doing what I had to to keep bad things from happening.

I believe in most circles, many of us would call it a life of avoidance.

If these last two years of hibernation from the world have taught me anything, it’s that I’m not ready to take this world on again. No, I’m not planning on laying down after consuming a more than ample share of sleeping pills and never waking up.

I’m more afraid of dying than living, so there is that.

I’m leading the same life of meh, that I’ve always experienced, and now, when it seems as if we all may be able to come…
