In 2019, we — Darkmira — had the opportunity to sponsor two community events and, for the first time ever, a book!

At the end of the year 2019, Fabien Potencier did indeed announce he was writing a book on how to develop real and modern applications using Symfony 5.

In order to achieve this project, a kickstarter has been setup to finance the writing, printing and distribution of the book “Symfony 5: The Fast Track”, but also to financially support the Symfony community and its contributors.

Discovering the Kickstarter, we didn’t even wonder whether we wanted to participate. Part of our job is based on the work of this community through the Symfony framework, all we had to do was to consult among our dev’hackers to decide which option we were going for… and here we are, sharing the top sponsorship with Packagist and Blackfire.io!

For both for the writing of the book and the evolution of the framework, we know they all dedicate a lot of their own time and energy so that everyone can use Symfony in their web applications. And it’s a way for us to support them for that!

Having started to read the book, I realized that it’s aimed to new developers using Symfony as much as those who already have a good experience with the framework. It covers the basics of application development with Symfony while respecting best development practices.

An online version will soon be available (and translated into several languages).

We would like to thank Fabien Potencier, for writing this book, as well as all the sponsors, individuals or companies, without whom this book would probably not have been produced.

We look forward to seeing you all at upcoming events starting with the PHP Benelux where Thomas Dutrion will be.
