God of Mercy, Truth…and Judgement‽

What is fascinating & perplexing about God is that he tolerates my willful ignorance when it would be (from my perspective) wiser to destroy me instead.

The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. (King David, Psalms 145:8–9)

Although I am grateful of God’s mercy towards me (& by extension the rest of the human race), I need to recognize that God’s mercy (or rather tolerance for sin) is not infinite.

The Almighty is slow to anger but he is also holy — and God’s holiness requires that I (along with every other human being on Earth) embrace the truth no matter how uncomfortable it is lest we face his judgement.

The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. (King David, Psalms 145:17–20)

Seeking out God’s truth (& embracing it) is the first step one must take towards pursuing holiness — a lifestyle that not only pleases the Divine but grants us favor with the Almighty on Earth (which is a very good thing in the age of chaos that we live in now!).
