Law For The Lawless‽

Interesting perspective from Apostle Paul (especially since it follows his previous passage).

“But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;”

“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,”

“For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;” (1 Timothy 1:8–10)

This list adequately sums up 99.999999999999‰ (yes, I used “‰” instead of “%”) of humanity as there are no perfect people who are (or have been) righteous by their own power (the exception being Jesus Christ of course!).

Whether I like it or not God’s law is designed to enlighten me on the path towards perfection.

It is the standard for which I am judged & the ideal life which the Almighty desires me to aspire towards.

Although God does display an abundance of grace & mercy in my life (which has & which will always confound me), he does expect me to make an attempt towards living a holy life (either in my own feeble power or — more realistically — borrowing from the Divine).
