Lessons From Jonah…

3 verses from Jonah 2:7–9 brought be enlightenment today…

“When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.”

Often when I am desperate I will consult the mercy/wisdom of the Almighty.

Apparently this is not just a personal foolish trait of mine, but alas I need to also consult God in the good times as well.

“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.”

Embracing lies (no matter how comfortable) will result in less mercy from the Almighty (who for my sake seems to have an abundance–this must be in proportion to my foolishness).

“But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.”

I don’t need to give up blood, money or pain in order to appease the Almighty (as none of that would remedy my numerous follies).

Instead God seeks from me a thankful heart.
