Romancing the glorious past is apparently a vanity according to King Solomon…
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. (Ecclesiastes 7:10)
The past always looks glorious as we amplify it’s beauty while ignoring the ugliness that was present then.
While I should always learn from the past (as its history is essential to enlightening me in the present) I should never revere it more than the present.
After all the value of the present is determined by the future…& it’s the future that is ultimately more glorious.
