Preparation Trumps Talent

After watching my Patriots defeat (or rather narrowly avoid a loss to) the talented Cardinals – in spite of the odds – it reminded me of why my Patriots usually outperform their rivals.

Or as ESPN First Take best explains it…

Truthfully the Cardinals were at full strength offensively & defensively.

Patriots were not only missing Tom Brady, but Rob Gronkowski, Nate Solder & others as well.

Despite boasting a better team on paper & (as I will admit) on the field, the Cardinals lost due to lack of preparation against a wounded foe.

Although one always needs talent (aka ability) to succeed in life, without it being backed by preparation it is nothing more than vanity.

Patriots mixed what talent they had left with massive preparation in order to defeat a stronger team.
