The Fine Print In Prayer‽

There is a weird saying in west: always read the fine print!

I guess this means that before we commit ourselves to a contract (for better or for worse), we should read the fine (aka tiny) print lest we suffer the consequences (or worse, forfeit any rewards) due to actions made in ignorance.

Apparently something similar applies to prayer:

“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (1 John 3:22)”

Although God does hear the prayer of humans (ranging from the wicked to the lukewarm disciple), he is not a genie who will grant our every request because we exist.

Obedience is apart of the equation!

God not only expects me to live out the laws he has provided (which will help me prosper upon the planet known as Earth), but also align my various activities in a way that would be pleasing to the Almighty.

At least if I value God (a transcendent being outside of time & space) answering my various requests (which I do!!!).
