The Greedy Me
I have a desire,
To gain and acquire
It burns like a fire
But me it will destroy
I need to inquire
About how to retire
These feelings and inspire
Myself to simply enjoy….
….what I already have.
Funny how this verse comes from a man known for wealth (King Solomon).
“He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? (Ecclesiastes 5:10–11)”
Despite the fact that there are a lot of geek toys that I want to own (among other things), I need to instead chillax and be content with what God has already given me.
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (1 Timothy 6:6–7)”
Happiness lies not in the ownership of prized possessions, immense wealth or social status.
Happiness lies in contentment of your current state (regardless of how much you have).
