This story is published with Zascha’s permission. She is the writer of the following story. It details her fantastic trip into the world of mining for cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin has become very competitive recently, so many people are now mining for other cryptocurrencies because altcoins have a better chance of earning them income. There are hundreds of different altcoins in existence and you can see them all here.

Here’s Zascha’s tale:

I’m going to tell you about my journey into the crypto world and a little about KB, the person who inspired me to starting mining crypto coins.

Here’s what happened:

“Do you know about Bitcoin?”

KB asked me one evening after having consumed a few Titos (Titos vodka + red bull: our favorite drink). Let’s be honest we had more than a few (wink).

I recalled this evening being a little cold, windy, it had to be somewhere in November last year.

I replied, “Yes, I have.”

Then KB asked, “What do you know about it?”

I responded, “Well, not much except it uses blockchain, some type of technology that is going to be a game changer.”

KB went deep, and when I say deep I mean he started to talk about all kinds of technical details that my brain was not able to process right on the spot. At that moment I was blaming Titos for it (smile).

Looking back, I knew nothing at all.

KB and I have amazing conversations about technology, investments, movies, cars. KB is a fast car enthusiast (understatement), among many other things, and I like old cars (I owned a F-Ford 100 1971).

We also have very philosophical talks about the world and humanity and of course, the Iditarod.

Well, that November conversation did not go very far as I could not keep up.

But KB did not give up on me (THANK YOU KB) and he brought it up again early this year and to make it more challenging, KB added a twist:

“Do you know anything about mining?”

I responded,

“Mining? For what?”

Well, that is all it took.

KB went on and on and deep, very deep… and I was hooked. I know you might be wondering why I got hooked? No, it is not what you are thinking.

Well if you know me, you know I enjoy building things, I enjoy touring @ home depot, I am an artsy person and I love to see and touch things, yes I am that kind of person (smile).

A few days later on a cold winter evening, KB took me around his house and introduced me to few of his girls (Lucky, Luna, Lexy, and Linxy among others). I was blown away. They looked beautiful!

From all the tiny details of the motherboard to the cool lights of the GPU cards, the animalistic and simplified aspect of the frame and the spider web-looking cables made the mining rig a piece of art for me.

KB clearly noticed my excitement. We had extensive conversations about the mining process and the profitability aspects (cons vs. pros) and I did not hesitate. I wanted to be part of it.

A week later, KB invited me to build a mining rig at his house. KB guided me step by step and explained each component. LOLA was up, running and mining in 4 hours.

If I did not ask so many questions, LOLA could have been rocking and rolling in 2 hours or less I think, but this was new for me and KB took the time to answer all my questions.

From time to time, I could see his eyes rolling back and thinking, “Oh no, here she comes again with another question.” That was the day I decided I had to build my own mining rig and so I did.

3 weeks later LOL was rocking and this time it only took about 2 hours or less. I believe It was also around this time that I bought some cryptocurrencies. I wanted to buy Dash but since I was using Coinbase and Dash was not an option, I couldn’t.

I was truly disappointed. I believe KB could sense my disappointment so 3 days ago he surprised me with a new mining rig named “5”.

What an AMAZING surprise!!!! I still can’t believe it.

I used to be an avid reader of fashion magazines and stayed in tune with all the fashion trends but not that much anymore.

Now, I find myself reading tons of articles about cryptocurrencies. Do I understand them all? Am I an expert now? Not at all.

I’m one of those people who likes to read. But reading about cryptocurrencies can be intimidating at times. Sometimes it just does not click.

So I have to go back and re-read and start all over again, ground hog day…. Sounds familiar? Too many new terms, too many technical terms.

Then there is KB. KB possesses a very, very fertile mind, and analytic beyond imagination. The crypto world is his world, everything about it comes very natural to him.

The technical aspects are in his DNA.

Makes me wonder if there is something wrong with me… but then it all makes perfect sense.

I am truly a newbie in the crypto world and I need to take baby steps. Slowly but surely (wink).

I am very grateful to have a great friend by my side.

KB has impacted my life in many ways and I will love to have the opportunity to pay it forward by helping others get their ticket to the crypto world.

Perhaps mining is not for you and that is ok. I can assure you there are many aspects of the crypto world that are quite fascinating and intriguing.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this massive revolution. I am eager to learn more, share ideas and especially to invite other women to join the crypto world.
