Meet the Member: The Bubbly Nutritionist With a Passion for Art
Meet Dimple Bhagchandani, who moved to Hong Kong from India with her husband for a fresh start in 2017. Besides working as an IT Consultant, she is also busy managing the social media account Make A Difference with her childhood best friend.
So how has moving to Hong Kong changed her life? Keep on reading to learn more about life in Hong Kong, and how Dimple navigated staying at home during the global pandemic.
Hi Dimple’s, it’s nice to meet you. Can you tell us a little more about yourself?
D: Bharat (my husband) and I are from Mumbai and we moved to Hong Kong because of his job. We already had friends living in Hong Kong, so we had an idea of the culture and lifestyle here. I work as an IT service consultant, and my husband works in finance. My studies are mechanical chemical engineering, it’s completely different from my job, and I guess that’s life.
What brought you to Dash Suites?
D: My husband was staying in Dash Suites, Causeway at the start. I joined him 2.5 months later, and we found a bigger serviced unit in Wan Chai. Also, we needed a bigger kitchen space because we love cooking.
D: We like our new home because there’s space for all our needs, and we have a view of Victoria Harbour. Our location is perfect. Everything is a walking distance — my office is a 10 minutes walk from home.
What does your free time look like now that you’re spending more time at home?
D: The pandemic has given me extra time to focus what I’m passionate about. I’ve been taking an online Zumba classes and I’ve launched a social media platform about nutrition with my childhood friend/illustrator at Make A Difference.
Can you talk about more on your social media platform of nutrition?
D: I completed my nutrition certificate last year, and I wanted to share my knowledge and fitness journey in a fun way. Therefore, I collaborated with a childhood friend who is a doodle artist, and she used her creativity to express the message I want to spread out. We call this fun-nutrition!
We’ve noticed you’ve added your bubbly personality into your home. Can you tell us more about it?
D: When it comes to home, my husband and I have different decorating styles. He prefers a minimalist look — mine is colorful and vibrant. I personalized the space that matches my personality with unique decorations from our travels or art from local artists from our hometown. It’s one way to represent the connection between Mumbai and Hong Kong.
Where’s your favorite spot to eat around town?
D: Qi House of Sichuan, Treehouse and Mana for plant-based dishes in Centralm, anywhere with Dan Dan noodle (spicy Sichuan noodles) and Pad Thai (stir-fried noodle from Thailand).
Where’s your favorite hangout spot after work?
D: I can’t pick! But I love to take the Star Ferry and walk along the promenade and exploring new coffee shops.
