Welcome to the Medium blog for Nesta’s Data Analytics Practice
Nesta’s Data Analytics Practice (DAP) is an interdisciplinary team of data engineers, data scientists and data visualisation and product development experts. We use data to advance Nesta’s missions around early years, health and sustainability.
In this blog, we will get into the technical details of how we use data to help Nesta’s missions achieve their goals. We will also share tips, tricks and lessons learned from our projects and tutorials about the tools we use and develop. We will also tell you about the way we organise our work and manage projects to drive social impact responsibly.
A few examples of our work are:
- Our collaboration with York City Council to develop a dashboard to visualise child service data to see trends and help identify where resources may need to be focused
- Our machine learning analysis of spatial data to understand local factors that might be driving obesity
- A predictive model of heat-pump installation costs to reduce consumer uncertainty about the costs of adopting this low-carbon heating technology.
We’d love to hear from you so please do not hesitate to comment on individual articles or drop us a line at dataanalytics@nesta.org.uk if you have any questions or comments.
