Airbnb is the leading and rapidly growing alternative to the traditional hotel networks. It collects a lot of data about their hosts and their properties, including detailed tourists reviews. Interestingly, this data is publicly available from the Inside Airbnb website, so it is natural for a data scientist to dig into, ask questions and try to answer them.

In this report, I will handle the following questions:

  1. What can one say about the positive and negative tourists reviews about their hosts?
  2. What are the main distinctions of Airbnb superhosts from ordinary hosts?
  3. What are the main factors that influence Airbnb daily renting price?
  4. How well can one predict the Airbnb daily renting price based on the data from different cities?

To answer these questions, I have downloaded the data on Airbnb host listings and tourists reviews. To this end, I concentrate on the latest data (from August 2018) from only three locations:

  • Seattle, WA, USA;
  • Boston, MA, USA;
  • Copenhagen, Denmark, EU.
