How To Get Started with MCP.
The Model Context Protocol.
The MCP short for Model Context Protocol helps you build agents and complex workflows on top of LLMs.
Just think of MCP like an USB-C port for AI applications.
MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how applications provide context to LLMs.
Just like an USB-C provides a standardized way to connect your devices to various peripherals and accessories, the MCP provides a standardized way to connect AI models to different data sources and tools.
The MCP means that your AI applications can access the information and tools you work with every day rather than AI being limited to what it already knows, it can now understand your specific documents, data and context.
When you choose to use MCP servers, applications can access your personal documents from Google Drive or data about your codebase from GitHub and provide a more personalized and contextually relevant assistance.
At its core the MCP follows a client server architecture where a host application can connect to multiple servers.
