Data and Society

According to WHO;UNICEF and the World Bank Group, about 155 million children are stunted, 41 million are overweight and 52 are wasted. these three organizations that are responsible for children's health, motherhood and childhood, poverty and sustainability respectively. therefore, as we all know, good nutrition allows children to growth, develop, play, learn and contribute; however, as the above data visualization shows 248 million children are suffering. to develop more, stunning is the devastating result of poor nutrition in early childhood. Wasting in children is the life- threatening result of hunger and/or disease. The above visualization is done on heat map to show the distribution of these numbers over the main contents. every disease/ or problem is symbolized by both gender and by specific symbol in order to make the case more understandable and clearer. this visualization shows that children all over the world are deprived and suffering except for those in Europe and North America which considered the two richest contents; while Asia has the highest numbers between all. therefore, this improve that the main focus of these three organizations is on Europe and North america while the others are excluded and marginalized. furthermore, this visualization speaks from the ideology of the importance of focusing of children all over the world because they are the future leaders, to let other organizations work on this issues and also to make the governments more aware about this huge catastrophe.

the above data visualization breakdown of the world economy. it doesnt only show the GDP of those countries in relation to each others, but also divides each country economy in to three main sectors: agriculture, services and industry as shown in the above icons. As it shown in the above picture, the lightest color corresponds to the most primitive economic activity which agriculture, while the medium is industry and the darker shade is for services which represent the highest portion of GDP of the developed economy in the world economy. To focus more, the visualization also shades the countries by continental geography, to easily see the relative economic contributions of North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. moreover, in this visualization, it is clear that the united state of America has the highest portions of all sectors which it is a sign that it can control the whole world because of the development and technology it has. on the other hand, the shape of this visualization is very complicated which make it very hard to understand.

this data visualization is from wall street journal, which explores the pay gap between both genders in 422 U.S occupations.

Despite the fact that fully closing the gender gaps could add up to 26%( http://www.mckinsey.com/global-themes/employment-and-growth/how-advancing-womens-equality-can-add-12-trillion-to-global-growth )to world GDP by 2025, women across the world are still vastly underpaid compared to their male counterparts. In the United States, the average woman will earn 78 cents ( http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/13/news/economy/equal-pay-day-2015/) for every dollar a man earns. Globally, that discrepancy is even worse at only 50 cents to the dollar.

furthermore, even the colors used in the above visualization show discrimination between both genders ( the purple color is fo women and the blue is for men).
