Write up your research on Metric Power and explain how data based measures set standards and norms that shape actions and choices or render people visible or invisible in consequential ways.

Start with a brief definition of metric power and how it operates through data collection and algorithmic analysis. Make sure to address the relationship between measurements, circulation and possibility and explain how it helps us understand measurement and calculation as social and political force. How do metrics constrain the way people think and act and how they are evaluated and judged? What is the role of classifications and categories in influencing how people are seen and conduct themselves and their lives?

Then move on to illustrate the work of metric power with the specific example you studied. Make sure to cover all aspects of metric power relevant to your case and to explain in detail how the shaping of options and movements and the setting of standards work through the circulation of data your specific application collects.

Conclude your essay by highlighting the wider social and political impact of the particular kinds of measurement you studied. How are they changing perceptions and choices and the way people look at the world and themselves and/or how their interests and needs are recognized.
