Instead of highlighting reports, this week we’d like to showcase two tools that may help you find the socieconomic information you need or distract yourself from Youtube kitten videos.

The Metro Monitor

The Metro Monitor gives in-depth analysis of economic trends in the United States’ 100 largest metro areas. It offers rankings on growth, prosperity, and inclusion by tracking nine indicators over one, five, and ten year periods. It’s straightforward, somewhat interactive (you can click on their map to switch cities), and very helpfully provides a quick snapshot of regional trends.

The Democracy Dashboard

It’s election season, which means it’s the best time to get democracy-related content without the politics. The Democracy Dashboard offers tons of data on democratic participation, public opinion, and elections administration. While it is chart heavy, it’s also fairly simple to navigate. The Democracy Dashboard will release data on an ongoing basis through the year, and promises to be a great source of information for data and politics junkies.
