As we have mentioned hyperautomation journey, we introduce the first step, combining APQC methodology and Process Mining tool in this chapter.

What is APQC?

APQC is the world’s foremost authority in benchmarking, best practices, process and performance improvement, and knowledge management.

APQC develops Process Management Maturity Models to assess and categorize which levels our business processes maturity is on.

It defines 5 maturity levels:

  1. Initiate: No Organized Processes. Cultures of Heroes.
  2. Develop: Processes are improved at the Work Group or Department Level
  3. Standardize: Processes are Organized and Redesigned at the Enterprise Level.
  4. Optimize: Processes are Measured and Managed Systematically.
  5. Innovate: Process Teams Continuously Improve Processes

We can ask ourselves how mature our company’s processes are or more scientifically leverage a quantitative assessment tool provided by APQC.

Moreover, in this report, 2022, Business Process Management Maturity Benchmarks: Insurance Industry, provided 10 indexes to help with self-assessment and benchmarking.

Below I select 5 indexes to echo the optimization steps mentioned in the last chapter: 1. transparency, 2. identifying the bottlenecks, 3. developing automation tasks, 4. testing before implementation, 5. looping these steps to create continuous optimization.

The selected 5 indexes from Business Process Management Maturity Benchmarks:

  1. Transparency
  2. Process Performance Measures
  3. Process Improvements
  4. Flexibility and Problem Solving
  5. Tools and Technology

In the below demo video, Process Mining demonstrates the ability to reveal the transparency of processes by data-driven models, provide metrics to measure process performance, and help accelerate the speed of development.

(English subtitle is on the way)

In the next chapter, we will dig out more powerful abilities of Process Mining and how it is compliant with the above assessment indexes.
