A walkthrough Guide on how to join one of the most active and supportive technical community at SRM.
SRM is home to more than 10,000 computer engineers in the making. Here, we bring to you a community where all the technology enthusiasts, be it, developers, designers, or entrepreneurs can join, and be one step closer to achieving your goals.
So, Who are we?
We are a technology-driven Data Science-based student-led innovation community at SRM IST. Our aim is to foster development and entrepreneurial skills among students and work as a community that inspires thousands.
What do we do?
Here at The Data science community, we make real time projects, conduct reasearch, organise data science meet ups, events and workshops focusing on machine learning, AI, block chains and more. We guide and teach all those who aspire to work in these fields and help them attain better skills and knowledge as well as grow ourselves as a team and make sure no one gets left behind. We work on outsource as well as intra-community projects that provides a very good exposure and experience to our members.
Industrial Collaborations
Our collaboration with some of the leading tech giants and companies in the technological sector facilitates our members with industrial exposure and in learning new skills along with organizing some amazing workshops and technical events.

Here’s everything you need to know to join this vibrant community of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs.
There are 3 domains-
Technical
Design
Management
Sub-Domains are also available in each of the above domains for the students to work in their specific areas of interest.

Sub-Domains in Design:
- Graphic Designing
- Video Editing
- UI/UX
Sub-Domains in Management:
- Sponsorship
- Content Writing / Editorial
- Operations
All the domains have an equally important role in the proper functioning and growth of the Community as well as the members.
You can apply for more than 1 domain at the recruitment portal of our website. (The portal will go live in the coming days, you can stay updated by following our social handles).
For each domain, 2 ROUNDS will be held for selection.
ROUND 1.
This round begins as soon as you fill out the Application Form. The Application Form contains various questions and sections based on your Interests, why you want to join, experience and work. This round will have domain specific questions to enquire about your interests and experience in the applied domain. I would recommend you to fill out all your achievements, experiences, work or interest/dedication towards joining in the respective sections. Based on your details and answers in the form, our board will review the applications and shortlist candidates after elaborative discussions and analysis of your replies.
Pro-Tip: Just be yourself in filling out the form, we won’t judge it on your extensive answers but on your dedication towards work and joining the community.
Also, Plagiarism in filling out the application will be dealt with strictly.
If you are selected in this round you will qualify to round 2.
ROUND 2.
Shortlisted applicants will be interacting with the board of Data Science Community through an online interview and you will be evaluated on your knowledge and skills, how you carry yourself, your attitude and how different you are. You will be asked general as well as specific questions towards your applied domain.
This will also give the interviewee the opportunity to get to know the board members and tell them what you expect from the community and vice versa.
They will assess your all round skills and will take the FINAL decision.
Pro Tip: Again, be yourself! Just brush up your knowledge of the applied domain so that you can answer the interview questions comfortably.
After all the selection rounds are over, all the applicants will receive an email saying that you have been selected or not.
Those who are selected, we will then have a meeting with you and we all will get to know each other a bit more and discuss your roles.
All the selected applicants will be given the position of ASSOCIATES and the perks of being a part of the data science community.
Based on their contribution and work in the initial days of selection, you will be promoted as a PERMANENT MEMBER of the Community.
