HANA Upgrade got stuck?

SAP HANA is sometimes crazy enough to explore multiple options for your problem solving approach, to deeper on the issue, may you find SAP Notes are not enough to find a quick solution, making us hard on minimizing the downtime or resolving issue on productive large customer bases.

Here you find an easy method to resolve an unlikely seen upgrade issue.

Problem statement

We are trying to upgrade HANA either from HANA 1 to HANA 2, or may be a revision upgrade within the major version. We either use hdblcm or simple hdbupd cmd for upgrade. Whatever, if you see below issue, this note is worth to check out

Move or remove previous upgrade record file residing in path as shown:

Note that, above approach solves only the issue that is described in Problem statement section, so you might need to check other options if the issue is different during the upgrade process. Good luck with upgrades!
