Solving Enterprise Marketing Pains With AI-Driven Apps
The founder of a London based agency helps his clients grow their businesses, drive brand awareness, and achieve their marketing goals through custom web apps built conversationally.
At Databutton we believe that the proof, magic, understanding, and validation for AI features and products only comes with real, working applications. As such we are seeing this manifest itself through our community of innovative builders—this is one of their stories.
Chris Wright is the founder of Fifty Five and Five, a B2B marketing agency based in London which specializes in building and executing on their client’s brand strategy. At Fifty Five and Five they think, plan, and strategize using their knowledge of their client’s business coupled with their expertise in the technology industry to develop solutions to their most pressing challenges.
In 2023, Chris saw an opportunity to expand their commitment to quality and service, thanks to the GenAI step changes the world witnessed. Instead of just painting a picture or pitching a vision, Chris saw the ability to present usable apps as critical for their current and future success.
The next wave of marketing apps is all about hyper-personalization. Imagine using apps that feel as though they’ve been custom-built just for you, tailored to your every need and preference. The shift is towards providing individualized experiences, making each interaction more efficient, intuitive, and user-centric — Chris Wright
Early on in exploring his perceived opportunity, Chris invested a lot of his time experimenting and testing every no and low code tool under the sun—even with a technical background he wasn’t interested working on his ideas in a terminal locally. To be fast and impactful, he needed to find a suitable tool to work in with a more visual and iterative workspace because for him speed and scalability are key. While being technical, Chris is not a software developer, and writing code himself is not the most efficient or impactful way he can spend his time.
As a founder, Chris’ impact is most felt by delivering his highly strategic concepts and ideas to his clients. The more time he can spend doing this, the better end results are for himself, Fifty Five and Five, and most importantly, his clients.
Without a suitable low or no code tool to help him embrace the opportunity he saw, Chris would have to remain pitching concepts. But writing specifications, wireframing, and working with a designer to come up with high fidelity mockups simply wasn’t enough to sell an AI value proposition. Chris needed an application for his clients to truly understand the benefits, and using a development team also wasn’t an option.
In early June, 2023 Chris came across Databutton and started exploring it for building GenAI apps. He got extremely excited by the opportunity Databutton unlocked. Instead of writing code or using drag & drop components, he was about to build using plain English, describing logic as he would in specs. He was incredibly happy that Databutton’s AI agents were writing real code. The fact that Databutton’s apps were built on the best frameworks, Python backends, and React UIs, made it possible to leverage an ecosystem of tools and libraries.
Databutton enabled him to quickly take a spec written in Notion and a set of Figma designs and turn it into an actual app within hours, bypassing the need for ineffective traditional interfaces. Databutton allowed him to close the gap between his idea conception and product development, significantly reducing the time from months to just days for delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
You’ve broken a barrier for me that I haven’t previously found. — Chris Wright
Furthermore, this new way of building has since enabled Chris to sell to new clients, illustrating the commercial viability of the solutions developed using Databutton. The quality of working with Databutton’s AI agents has been particularly impressive to him. Their efficiency and effectiveness have been so transformative that he has a strategy to build a team of Databutton-specific builders at Fifty Five and Five, already hiring two talented systems thinkers.
Overall, Chris’s results with Databutton are an inspiration for plenty of others to go beyond specing and designs to building full-stack applications.
