Data for Good: the Next Corporate Social Responsibility
Data and technology has revolutionized the way we live our lives and do business. Should community service follow suit?
Data Clinic was born out of the desire to give back beyond the typical Corporate Social Responsibility model of community service. Working at Two Sigma, a financial institution built on the principles of innovation through data science and engineering, a group of employees set out to lend these same skills to nonprofit and public-sector agencies that could greatly benefit from them. What began as a proof-of-concept is now a fully staffed team backed by hundreds of Two Sigma volunteers, engaging in year-round partner projects and open source research. Happily, the broader data-for-good space continues to grow, as more and more organizations, universities, and meet-ups contribute to the advancement of social issues through data and technology.
