America had an eventful and emotional week, to say the least. Apart from the election, this week also saw expanded legal access to marijuana in several states and the celebration of our 97th Veterans Day.

Support for legal marijuana in the US

Public support for legalizing marijuana has now reached 60% — its highest level in Gallup’s 47-year trend. Arkansas, California, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota all expanded legal access to marijuana this week. Maybe nationwide legalization isn’t such a pipe dream. Veteran populations by state

Today marks the 98th anniversary of the end of World War I, and the 97th celebration of Veterans Day in the US — previously “Armistice Day” until renamed in 1954. The Department of Veterans Affairs states there are over 4.5 million veterans in the US today. How many veterans live in your state? Radio play analysis

Here’s a really cool data project. @jasonmotylinski’s goal is to predict when an artist will be played on the radio for a given day. Using 2013–2015 playlists for Minnesota radio station 89.3 “The Current” and some prediction code, he’s put together an analysis to predict what will be played on a Thursday.
