Hello all! This week I’m talking about boot camp, 100 days of code, CanUCode, and some React projects.
Overall I’m pretty excited to get started! It’s still a few months away so it will give me some time to prepare.
2 I’ve also started the “100 Days of Code” challenge. The gist is you do at least 1 hour of coding every single day for 100 days.
Actually I’m doing it on Twitter, so you can follow my progress there: https://twitter.com/adamweiler86
3 The CanUCode competition is underway and it’s a good start for absolute beginners. It’s 10 hours* of material for novices in HTML and CSS.
Nothing too complicated, I feel it’s accessible to young children, highschool kids, College students, or anyone really.
At the end you get a shirt, bragging rights, possible prize potential, and it’s free to participate.
*If you’re familiar with these concepts, it takes a lot less time.
4 I’ve finished 6 or 7 FreeCodeCamp projects lately! I don’t want to bog this post down so I’ll focus on just 2 of the Front-End Projects:
Random Quote Machine:
-This React app displays a quote at random from a JSON file.
-You can also Tweet the Quote.
-Every time you get a new quote, the gradient background is generated randomly.
Pomodoro Clock in React:
-This React app is a timer used for studying.
-You can set length for study session and break.
-I like how the colours look.
-..but in hindsight, I shouldn’t use orange and blue for both the up/down buttons and break/session divs.
