My Coding Journey: Week 4 — an HTML Revelation
Last week, I documented my experience with slightly more ambitious CSS animation. While I had a degree of success (insofar as exploding a cartoon bunny head can be considered successful), I also had my fair share of frustration, as usual, to do with responsiveness. I think I know what I need to do to solve the problem (set the paragraph size as relative to that of the pre-explosion bunny head), but I am yet to figure out how to do it. All in all, it’s a bit of a Homer-assembling-the-barbecue situation.

As keen as I am to resolve this issue and allow my bunny to be menacing regardless of its size, I decided for now to move on and work on my HTML skills. I found this very informative video:
It showed me, among other things, how to:
- insert gaps on a web page.
- add a drop-down list.
- add a text box.
- insert and style many other useful form elements — all with just HTML!
Having seen the video, I decided to put my new-found knowledge to the test and create a form of my own. As you know, I always like to use my coding skills for things which are relevant and applicable to everyday life, so I decided to create the one and only web form which the world has been been missing… a bunny census questionnaire.
Here’s how it turned out:

I have to say that I am surprised at how much can be achieved with HTML alone, and keen to use these techniques again in the future. I realise, though, that this technique has its limitations so next I will be exploring ways in which I can style the form by introducing Bootstrap and maybe even (gulp) jQuery…
