Greetings, Dataeum community!

We bet you have a lot of questions concerning the platform that desire to be answered as soon as they appear. We’re going to tend to your needs effective immediately, starting with the first part of the questions that seem to be the most frequent among those who take interest in what we do. They’re devoted to the functioning of our platform.

Welcome Dataeum’s F.A.Q., Part I:

— What is Dataeum?

Dataeum offers an unique solution enabling the collection of 100% of all physical data in the world: stores, roads, landscapes, atms, traffic signs, gas stations, etc.

Blockchain-based and using crowdsourcing, Dataeum aims to place individuals at the center of the data generation. Through a mobile app, individuals are rewarded to collect and verify physical data attributes: name, geolocation, category, phone number, etc. Once validated, thanks to a decentralized process, the data is made accessible on a Marketplace.

— What are data use cases?

Physical Data on the marketplace are available for any type of players:

  • Maps, looking for geolocated data and all informations regarding the points of interest, roads and landscape visual elements displayed to users
  • Any private company providing BtoB products and services to physical stores and needing to get access to informations, for any telemarketing, mailing, emailing, listings, or prospecting field actions
  • BtoC geotargeting companies looking for linking users and physical data
  • Any companies providing image recognition solutions or autonomous services linked to the use of Artificial Intelligence needing regularly updated data to build their product.
  • Any public players for census, landscape development or simply access to accurate real world data statistics
  • Any urban authorities using data to identify failures of elements in the public space
  • Any individual using data to locate, interact, or consult.

— How does the data collection work?

Community members, also called “collectors”, are individuals who incentivised in XDT tokens to gather and verify physical data. The reward per data collected is linked to a collection value applied to all of the data. Therefor, using the app, the collection process works in two steps:

  • First, a collector initiates the data collection by gathering all of the informations of the physical data: name, category, photo, geolocation, phone, etc.
  • Then, a second collector verifies the data collected.

The matching of the gathered and verified data, is realized through a decentralized process, allowing a full transparency on the data validation and its availability on the decentralized marketplace. The data validation triggers the collectors remuneration calculated with a collection value applied to each physical data (taking into account many variable such as the market price, demande, rarity, location, etc) and splitted as follow:

  • 70% for the collector that initiates collection.
  • 30% for the collector that verifies the data.

— How does the constant update of the data collected work?

This is made by using proof-of-constant techniques, working as follow:

  • each physical data receives an “accuracy rate”.
  • the accuracy rate progressively decreases on a monthly basis. This rate is calculated using different criteria and varies between the different physical data.
  • users can then get access to the data to update, by using the app.

The user who updates a physical data, will be rewarded based on the data’s collection value (cv) applied to its accuracy rate.

— What are the Marketplace functionalities?

Directly linked to the blockchain where validated data are stored, Dataeum’s Decentralized Marketplace will offer token holders different type of functionalities:

  • Licensing of the data for use and exploitation: from the interface, each player will be able to reach and use targeted data, downloading it or using the API.
  • Acquisition of the Data Ownership of Exploitation (DOE): this function allows any token holder to acquire the exploitation ownership of a physical data to get retributed on all of the income it generates.

— What is the difference between Dataeum and Self Key, Datum, Opiria or Streamr?

While others are dealing with personal data or data produced by individuals, Dataeum focuses on physical data.

Moreover, Dataeum’s solution offers an instant way to reward its data collectors, which is not the case for these services were a market player have to purchase the data to trigger the individuals remuneration.

That’s it for now, folks. Expect the next part of the F.A.Q. to touch on the ICO, Dataeum token and team. Stay tuned!
