With entry fees starting from just $2.50, it is no surprise that some ActiveSG gyms are so popular that you even need to queue to get in during peak hours.

Just how crowded is each gym over the course of the week? Using data provided by Sport Singapore, we calculated the average occupancy of each gym over one-hour periods to create a visualisation.

Click on the image to explore the visualisation.

With this visualisation, you may:

  1. See the occupancy rate of a gym over the course of a week
  2. Compare the occupancy rate of different gyms on a given day of a week

Unsurprisingly, all of the gyms are most popular during the weekday evening peak hours. If you want to avoid the crowd, perhaps it is better to go in the morning, or after 9pm. We can also see that gym usage drops on Friday night.

During weekends, occupancy is higher on Saturday mornings and Sunday evenings, so you may want to plan your weekend around your gym session if you want to avoid the crowd.
