Budget Data Galore
Hope you’re enjoying Fiscal Year 2017, readers. On July 1st, 2016, the proposed budget, approved by Mayor Eric Garcetti and the City Council, went into effect. Now, in conjunction with the City Administrative Office, we have made several related datasets available on data.lacity.org. Here are the datasets we’re most excited about:
- Appropriations dating back to 2010
- Revenues dating back to 2010
- Incremental changes between last year’s budget and the current budget
- Job positions dating back to 2012
- Performance metrics dating back to 2013
Most cities only share expenses and revenues. In Los Angeles, we’re moving towards a more comprehensive view of the city’s operations, by including data like job positions and performance metrics, which are really unique and a critical marker of our Mayor’s vision of a data-driven city.
We’d love to gain your insights. Let us know what you learn and any data-driven ideas for how to improve our City!
