We’re celebrating International Open Data Day by highlighting the power of mapping to tell a story, reveal insights, and spark meaningful change.

Mayor Garcetti’s commitment to open data focuses on making data work for people. The city has over 600 spatial datasets on the Geohub catalog as well as templates and tools to create informative, persuasive, or just plain beautiful maps.

Examples of applications built on the Geohub platform

When you’ve created a map, share it with the hashtag #MappingCAsfuture and comment here and we’ll make sure to feature your map on the Geohub. Or you could even see it as the banner image on our data homepage, data.lacity.org!

Then on March 2nd, head over to USC for a Community Training Workshop, City Hall for a recognition ceremony, or LACI for a Mapping California’s Future event and panel. Or you can find hundreds of more events across the world at opendataday.org.
