How your community is moving around differently due to COVID-19
Mobility data during COVID-19
UPDATE: Google has already made the data available in .csv open format. You can download it at this link and see the documentation here.
Data is necessary to make better decisions. Google made the mobility reports of most countries in the world available.
These reports can be downloaded in .pdf format and provide the percentage of mobility compared to a reference value of 6 categories of places.
This is an example of what the data looks like:
Opening Data
Although the opening of these data is already a step closer in making critical decisions in the fight against the covid-19, it seemed to me that it would be even better to have these data in a more open format.
So I started a dataset with the data thrown in these reports:
They are available in a spreadsheet for filtering, copying, or downloading the .csv (until the last update).
How can I use the dataset?
Here are some actions you can take:
Search for a specific country:
Press Ctrl + F or Cmd + F to open the search box and search for the country you want.
Filter the data:
You can create a temporary filter view and select countries, sort the data from highest to lowest or lowest to highest, search for a specific date among other filters.
Create a copy of the spreadsheet:
You can also create a copy of the document on your Google Drive by clicking File> Create a copy.
Keep in mind
- This data shouldn’t be used for medical diagnostic, prognostic, or treatment purposes. It also isn’t intended to be used for guidance on personal travel plans.
- Location accuracy and the understanding of categorized places varies from region to region, so we don’t recommend using this data to compare changes between countries, or between regions with different characteristics (e.g. rural versus urban areas).
- The data in this dataset has been obtained manually so there may be errors and /or typographical errors. For this, there are the links of the respective reports to contrast the information if necessary.
- If you find an error you can write me at g@startup-aurora.com

Helping public health officials combat COVID-19:
I create content, facilitate learning and entrepreneurship experiences and lead communities. I like to experiment with manual and semi-automatic data mining as well as finding stories in the data. I publish about it in Data Que Habla.
