As the weeks go by in 2017, the retail race only heats up even more. The weaker ones fall and the stronger ones are locked into a game of ever increasing stakes. Walmart’s ravenous appetite for online brands is a big part of the story — and it continues with their planned acquisition of Bonobos.

Dominos fall as they are wont to do

It’s mid-April and nine retailers have already filed for bankruptcy. And more than 3,500 stores are expected to close in the coming months. The message seems to be clear — shape up or ship out.

Etsy makes Captain Planet proud

Etsy meanwhile provided a breath of fresh air by releasing it’s own sustainability software. While they are not the first retail company to put their code on open source repository Github (Walmart and Nike have done so in the past) the fact that this code pertains to waste management and sustainability makes it even more commendable.
