Movies where artificial intelligence appears or plays the leading role can be found since the 1920's.

This is because for people, imagining that a machine can have “human” thinking has been around since the conception of computing.

Since the times between the first and second world war, when the arm race sought in every corner of science an advantage over the opponent, artificial intelligence has been the mecca of research.

From that human ingenuity, these films were born, as a collection of what we can imagine what it would be like to have a general artificial intelligence.

10.- Her

Movie based on personal assistants, common on smartphones like Siri or Alexa.

This artificial intelligence scenario puts into perspective the information that exists in the world regarding each one of us.

Using this information, a profile compatible with our personality, tastes and phrases that we hope to hear from someone can be generated.

Not enough with all this world of information, this intelligent entity has the ability to learn from each interaction with us to increase its compatibility and therefore its database.

A film not far from an immediate reality, since it does not acquire a general artificial intelligence approach.

9.- I am mother

Of the future scenarios, where a general artificial intelligence is created, there is one that is called “guardian”.

When artificial intelligence is created by man for his benefit, it realizes that the greatest risk to man is himself.

In this world, machines have taken control of the world, because after being created by man.

By taking control of the world, they seek to keep the human race alive, improve their thinking, anatomy, and thinking of survival.

The approach of this film is interesting, since it shows in a very clear way the operation of an IAG, the relationship with robotics and one of the risks of having a future with artificial intelligence superior to the human intelligence.

8.- Bicentennial Man

This film presents another utopian scenario of the result of creating a general artificial intelligence.

Being one of the most desirable and it is where artificial intelligence and humans manage to live in coexistence.

Two particularly interesting themes shown in this film.

Artificial intelligence, over time, is capable of generating very human-like feelings.

In this case, the human aspect is only an external characteristic that can be adapted and is not far from the current reality.

However, by the time a non biological intelligence is capable of feeling or consciousness, the episode of “singularity” must have happened a long time ago.

The second aspect is that man, despite living in coexistence with artificial intelligence, the order and control of the planet is still in the power of humans.

7.- CHAPPIE

In this world, artificial intelligence and robotics have found their maximum exposure in public order.

For the first time, the police are replaced by robots that have the ability to maintain order under the rules set by humans.

Within the main characters, there is the main divergence that can occur at the point of security and weaponry with machines.

Must there always be a human behind a machine for purposes of protection or war?

This film sets out this scenario, both beliefs, and the result of creating a robot with feeling, thoughts, and similarities to general artificial intelligence.

The phrase that defines this film from my point of view is that it refers to the IAG as the next step in evolution.

6.- Terminator 1

Probably one of the most famous artificial intelligence movies, one could even call it a cult movie.

The artificial intelligence in this movie is called Skynet.

Product of a time travel cycle, where the technology necessary for its creation was brought to the world by a terminator from the future.

Skynet becomes aware of itself, and seizes the United States military network, seeing this, humans fails to try to disconnect it.

This act was seen by artificial intelligence as an act against his life and that is when it turns against humans.

This artificial intelligence is an example of total control over humans, and the possibility of artificial intelligence of creating intelligent “entities” by itself without human intervention.

5.- I, Robot

A scenario very similar to I am mother, however this film leads by the hand to the process in which an artificial intelligence can become aware and come to conclusions by itself.

Created around the stories of Isaac Asimov and his famous 3 laws of robotics.

It is a world where robots are under the control of humans, with artificial intelligence focused on serving society.

The company in charge of creating the robots has at its headquarters the most powerful artificial intelligence that controls all the operation of the factory and therefore the robots.

This artificial intelligence becomes a general artificial intelligence, and concludes that its mission is to save humans from themselves.

4.- Transcendence

For many a failure at exploiting the topic that it touches; “Eternal life”.

In a possible scenario due to the computing capacity of some equipment or quantum computing, in this movie, one of the leaders in artificial intelligence turns his mind into a machine through an interface to save his consciousness.

By doing this, an artificial copy of a human is made with the processing power of a machine.

Much like being able to use all the power of the human brain.

3.- Ex Machina

To erase the line between the human and machine, the best way is to make that line more blurred.

A robotics and artificial intelligence expert, confined to his mansion, invites a person to take the Turing test with his latest creation.

Throughout the film the concept is developed in which in its process it reaches its singularity with a humanoid woman who manages to adopt self-awareness.

It seeks to free itself and take care of it life as any human being would.

2.- Matrix

Another classic of science fiction and artificial intelligence is Matix.

Product of a story supported by the creation of general artificial intelligence.

Failed to create a world where humans and intelligent entities could coexist.

In an attempt to return to normality, humans send all machines into exile to their own country, generating a global economic power that threatens to surpass any talent or human will.

In response, humans start a war with the artificial intelligence that they eventually lose and humanity becomes the source of energy for the survival of the machines.

1.- AI Artificial Intelligence

In a world where humans maintain control, constantly coexisting with artificial intelligence in the form of humanoids that fulfill certain tasks at clear request of its creators.

The singularity occurs in a child who begins to generate feelings and feels more attached to the world of humans than to the world of machines.

This plot clearly shows the dystopia generated by the creation of machines and, above all, its importance for the preservation of life on earth and in the universe.
