Dear Datawallet community,

this is our first update in a little while so we wanted to give you an overview of things that are happening and addressing some open questions. First and foremost, we want to thank everyone for their continued support! We know how difficult it is to stay informed about everything that is happening behind closed doors. Building a business, especially a two-sided marketplace, takes times and lots of efforts to avoid having the “chicken-egg-problem” of either no users on a platform or no one to buy the users data. However, we are very excited about the developments and while we, unfortunately, cannot say a lot on many of the deals we are doing due to NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) just yet, we are certain it is worth the wait.

We have been getting a lot of free media exposure in different countries we had not expected, among them Germany. We were visited by one of the biggest science shows on German TV, Galileo, and showed them how it is possible to sell your personal data in a privacy-preserving manner. If you look closely you will see some parts of an early prototype of our beta, which we used to walk them through the process. Also just recently we got invited for an interview with RTL Luxembourg, the biggest radio station in the country. We are enthusiastic that the topic of data ownership slowly gets noticed by the mainstream media and the general public!

The Human Verification Attestation System aka our “Bot or Not” technology, which we have been co-developing with Enigma was also met with a lot of positive feedback, placing Datawallet on the front page of Coindesk. You can read up on it in our more detailed post here.

Red Herring

Our CEO Serafin Engel was recently at the Red Herring Global 100 awards and presented Datawallet. As you may remember, Datawallet was chosen as a Top 100 North America winner back in June 2018, thus qualifying us to be considered for the Global Top 100.

We are certainly very excited to now have been chosen as one of the Global Top 100 winners at the award presentation in Los Angeles, USA. This further underpins the recognition Datawallet receives from business experts around the world. While winning the award is terrific, the more important aspect for us is always the opportunity to engage with present companies interested in Datawallet’s value proposition.

Datawallet Beta

We also wanted to take this opportunity to give you a brief update on our beta. As we previously mentioned we pushed the release back as there were some very exciting developments with partners of ours, among them a Fortune 50 enterprise. We are incredibly excited about this and are happy to say it has been developing as planned. Global enterprises with more than 250,000+ employees tend to move a bit slower than us, so this was one of the main reasons for pushing back our release. We have identified a new launch window now and the moment it is confirmed we will update everyone, however, this will be within the next 3 months. The release will see widespread marketing efforts that have already been locked down and we expect to quickly attract a large and active customers base with those efforts.

Blockchain

One area that will see a big expansion in the coming weeks is the blockchain technology component of the Datawallet ecosystem. Our blockchain developers, led by our lead dev and crypto OG Robert, have been doing some amazing work expanding the scope of what we thought was possible. The vision of an autonomous and decentralized sovereign data market is a truly exciting endeavor and will go hand in hand with our renewed focus on the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology communities. Datawallet has always had the vision of making blockchain technology more accessible to the general public to find widespread adoption.

Conferences

Datawallet has also been present at many industry events and conferences, such as the &THEN conference in Las Vegas. Our CEO Serafin Engel gave a 45-minute presentation and Q&A session on our permission-based advertising solution, as well as our “Bot or Not” technology. He previously spoke at Concordia Summit in New York, which is part of the UN General Assembly and saw such amazing speakers as Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, Ivan Duque Marquez, President of Colombia and Kristalina Georgieva, CEO of the World Bank.
