Update on the app & platform development

This week on the data marketplace front we began to lay the foundations for scaling Datawallet’s DX Insights suites. We migrated the analyses-generating pipeline from a minimal linux instance to a AWS Lambda Function which will allow it to flexibly scale to marketplace demands. A template for this new micro-service and how it interacts with our data API will be shared with the release of the developer suite later this year to serve as an example of best practices for efficiently delivering a data-product at scale. On the data-pipeline front we have begun integration of our Pinterest ETL pipeline. Next week our data-science team will begin experimenting with analyses using cross-platform Facebook and Pinterest data.

We also wanted to clarify the status of our referral system as we have been receiving some questions about it since our last update.
First, everyone who referred people will receive their DXT. So you should not be concerned on that front. However, this only holds for genuine referrals to other real people. We did have some cases of people trying to game the system by inviting non-existent people and these referrals will obviously not be honored. Verified identity is crucial to making an opt-in data marketplace successful and the integrity of our data marketplace depends on it. Please contact our support if you have any questions about your particular case.

Second, we have paused the referral system geared towards our ICO, and will release a ecosystem-based referral system in the coming months.

Third, the ability to withdraw your earned DXT from the ecosystem is still in development. As previously mentioned, the availability of this feature will depend on your nation of residence, but we are working as fast as we can to let you extract your DXT. Rest assured the DXT you have earned will remain valid.

Finally, for our iOS users, we appreciate your patience as we develop a browser-based version of our app for you. We are still negotiating with Apple, but they have taken a firm stance on applications that incorporate crypto-currencies. This means for the time being we can no longer support the iOS app. Please be assured that we have saved all your profile information and your DXT earned will be carried over to the new platform.

Community Engagement

We also wanted to take this week’s post to give you a update on our community engagement strategy going forward. We’ll keep this brief, but let’s start with some requests we’ve been getting:

  • Beginning this week either our CEO Serafin Lion Engel or our CTO Daniel Hawthorne will go into our Telegram Group at least once a week to answer some questions. And our new Director of Communications Yannick will be in the group every day to answer questions. We will try our best to find times where most of the community is able to engage in the discussions.
  • We are further working on a referral campaign for our Telegram Channel. Details will be announced soon.
  • We are also preparing to host meetups for the community, starting with an inaugural event in Berlin where the focus will be a bit more on the technical side of Datawallet. We will release more information on this when everything is set up.
  • We’re also actively working on established an infrastructure of liaisons that will translate & publish our content in other countries and the respective popular channels. We have been getting a lot of interest from South Korea & China specifically.
  • Together with our PR firm, Wachsman PR, we are in the process of identifying interesting opportunities for Datawallet to host or headline events & conferences. Details will be announced in time.
  • We are also about to relaunch our Facebook page and will share smaller sized bits of behind the scenes, team member portraits, updates, etc. there as well as on our Twitter (follow us HERE).

These are just a few points on what we are planning to do going forward. As always we very much appreciate your active feedback!
