The very first pizza delivery-by-drone garnered headlines around the world. Two pizzas topped with cheese, chicken, and cranberries made transportation history last year when they made it by air to a couple in Auckland, New Zealand. But the industry behind the vast possibilities offered by self-driving vehicles and unmanned drones is setting its sights on goals much loftier than airborne food delivery: saving and bettering lives by delivering supplies and medicines to hard-to-reach regions in the developing world.
