You might have read hundreds of pages about the great physicist Albert Einstein, but have you ever heard of his journaling habit?!

Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest physicists of all time. He was only 26 when in 1905; he had four separate papers published, electrifying the field of physics and rocketing him to global renown. Einstein’s name has become synonymous with genius and creativity. His mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc², which arises from relativity theory, has been dubbed “the world’s most famous equation”. Well, this formula might probably be the first thing to appear in our minds when we hear about Albert Einstein. But what do you know about this great legend other than his scientific works?

Einstein was also a proponent of human rights. He famously spoke out against segregation in the United States. He knew how to work hard, and he also knew when to take time off. He knew how to relax and believed that something great happens when a person is relaxing. In his leisure time, he used to play his violin. He was an incredibly talented musician. He loved traveling and kept travel journals. Einstein used pen and paper quite regularly to articulate his thoughts — mostly in letters or journals. In fact, this journaling habit helped him structure his thoughts and ideas, which resulted in his famous scientific discoveries. This practice of writing helped Einstein to keep a track of his thoughts and clarify it. Had he not written it down, he might have missed an important point. He used to ponder over his thoughts repeatedly which resulted in great inventions.

“It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” — Albert Einstein

Journaling is a great practice to adopt. You do not have to be a scientist or an innovator for this practice to be worthwhile. It does not require much effort and has numerous benefits for our health and well-being. Journaling helps you prioritize and accomplish your most important tasks, over-busy schedule. Keeping a journal will help you to clarify your thoughts. You might sometimes get a sudden idea or a good thought, which you may forget after few days. However, if you take few minutes to note it down, you can always go back and work on it. You may not always be able to keep a paper journal with you wherever you go. But not to worry in today’s digital world. There are many electronic journals available in your app store. You can access your digital journals any time from your mobile.
