Cars

That owned me.

If you’ve ever owned a car, it’ll surely empty your pocket,
Whether it be a reliable family car, or a sports job that’s a rocket,
One thing is for certain that mechanical things can break down,
And the worst place for it to happen is when you’re out of town.

I’ve owned a Willys Jeep a Vauxhall Velox and a Morris Cooper S,
Then a Fiat 1100 threw a piston through the bonnet under duress,
A Triumph 1000 bike in Britain and then a Ford Popular as well,
The Ford proved unpopular, whilst the bike was the bat out of hell.

A Zephyr Ute sufficed for contracting, but the steering was askew,
A mind of it’s own, it veered off course, and oil it would chew,
Then a Valiant Ute, that grew tired when heavy yachts it towed,
So it was traded for a GT Falcon, which was tireless on the road.

Then the muscle car was traded for more practical wheels,
A Valiant, a Falcon wagon and VW Kombi automobiles,
Then in a fit of peak a Commer Van with carburetor strife,
And on a trip out to Emerald had to be adjusted with a knife.
