I watched a feather falling,
Falling from the sky
Drifting from the nether
And then I heard a sigh.

The bird has flown
And left me here
In winds a blowing
The reasons are unclear.

I felt her svelte sensation.
Was she flying to her nest?
Or on her last journey
There to take her rest.

And as the sun is setting,
and spirals into the night
I watch and wait, then hesitate
And hear her mind instead.

For each one and every journey
There’s less time to mend
And as you fly, I can’t deny
This one may be the end.

And as I watch you fall.
From egg to nest and flight
I know my dear brother
We can’t always fight.

There comes a time when the mime
Has danced into a place
Where the journey is over
and the end of the race.

You leave me with a memory.
Like a feather falling from high
Into a place where you’ll embrace
The rising of the sky.
