Tenacity
Strength and veracity.
The best word is tenacity
Single-mindedness and skill
Carrying on until the bitter end
Fortified with a strong will.
Through thick and thin, pain and hurt
She worked against the odds
Using sheer skill and intelligence
In the twilight of the gods.
Day and night and in despite
Of adversarial conditions
She amended revised and devised
Against advice from her physicians.
When the goal was within sight
Then came the final test
To travel and unravel
Through pain and still digest.
The articles and exercises
Meant to test her tenacity
She pulled through and we all knew
She possessed the strength and veracity.
Now it’s done and the sun
Glows brighter in the sky
A great academic achievement
In the blink of an eye.
There are those who juxtapose
Their life works next to others
Collective kin of intellect
Join hands, sisters, and brothers.
