A Voyage into AR.

Good

Most of those who know me would not describe me as techy at all. I always know what I want but haven’t got a clue how to do this or which buttons to press. Therefore, the production of a presentation video that would not look out of place on prime-time telly will amaze those who know me and I think inspire everyone to have a go! Such is the wonders of AR that I now have in my possession a video advert of a product that we are looking to attract investment for. This has only been made possible with the wonderful support of the Rural Design Centre and Communities CAN. A group of people that had never worked together before have created a concept that could change the way Community led Housing is approached. No longer will this concept be on the back foot or thought of as the poor relation, lacking skills or knowledge to drive projects forwards. We will have eye catching visuals and supporting figures demonstrating the financial viability of oven ready projects.

A Painful Birth.

This wasn’t entirely a painless process! When the research began back in April we were at first trying to solve an issue that many had already spent a lot of money trying to resolve. We were focusing on the regeneration of High Streets and Market Towns and other such as Power to Change or Bill Grimbsy had already done much to consider this. Our unique angle was to consider whether community led housing could play a part in this process. We already had some good examples from Northumberland to build. From then on it has been a struggle and a joy in equal measures! A struggle to learn, at pace, new ways of working and learning the strengths of new Team members with which to work. As yet this Team has not actually met face to face!

The American voices and glossy smiles of the AR video maybe leave a bit to be desired but as we only have 10 minutes for our Pitch it certainly brings the complex concept to life for us in a very animated way. And we will still need to do the human part of the Pitch, but that’s what makes us special!

We now have a few short weeks to weave the story and the evidence around the magical AR tool to help us win that investment.

This has been a totally different way of working and although at times painful has thus far produced some pretty outstanding results.
