A week of mixed emotions and work

This week has been particularly eventful and productive, marked by significant strides in community development and various initiatives.

Firstly, the Community Building Energy Efficiency Grant has been a focal point of my work. We are pushing forward with this grant to improve energy efficiency across several community buildings. This week involved contacting a wide range of organisations that have had a BEEP audit, as well as progressing others with payments. The more I work on the energy efficiency element of my work, the more I am growing interested in the wider agenda of energy efficiency and the impact the VCSE plays in becoming more carbon neutral.

I’ve been that critical friend with funding applications for Trimdon Grange Community Centre. This centre is fundamental for local engagement and services, so securing additional funds is vital. The centre is looking for funding to deliver a Christmas celebration so that all young people living in the area can experience the magic of Christmas. In addition to this, I also supported Little Feet and Duk Moo with funding applications to be able to continue to deliver their services to their communities.

After an initial meeting with Sud, we have started the process of registering Ensemble 84 with the Charity Commission. It is the first one I have done with a theatre group, so the process is a new challenge.

Finally, I had a positive meeting with the new centre coordinator, Sara, at Burnhope Community Centre. This meeting helped to establish a collaborative relationship and continue an ongoing relationship with the community centre since the current centre manager left.
