This week has been a crazy busy week with a mix of every type of training we offer here at DCA.

Monday was a day of new design and content creation as well as making adaptions to our existing training courses. On Tuesday I delivered our community development workshop with Lyndsey on ‘Small steps to becoming a greener organisation’ with a great group of organisations who are already taking action to becoming greener. In the session we always share best practice within the community and now we have even more examples to share, which is great!

I met with Durham clothing bank and got to see the great work they are doing in their community. This meeting was to identify training needs for them for a bespoke piece of work around applying for funding, safeguarding and volunteer recruitment.

We have delivered 2 passport workshops for the new volunteers as part of the volunteer passport programme, although we only had 2 volunteers, they were both really engaged in the sessions and are keen to get started on their volunteering journey.

Finally, I have also delivered some accredited learning for mental health awareness. A great session with our staff, as both learners and critical friends who have helped shape the face to face session we are delivering later in the month.

A bit of everything and all types of training this week but also some real ‘feel good’ moments. It was so great to see organisations making the environment their priority, it was lovey to work with young people who are enthusiastic about volunteering and learning more about the voluntary sector and I’ve enjoyed the research into the mental health awareness, especially testing out some relaxation techniques, meditation and mindfulness.

I’m going into mothers’ day weekend on a high…. But then I will be painting my hallway for most of the weekend so I’m not sure how long that will last!
