Little Wins and Proud Moments

This week I have been getting stuck into the Cree evaluation work as well as having my 1:1 on Tuesday and our Whole Team Meeting on Wednesday.

For those who don’t know, The Cree project launched in November 2011, originally based on the Australian Men’s Shed movement (Cree being a local colloquialism for sheds). Since 2011, County Durham Cree network has evolved and expanded to offer a safe, communal space to men, women and young people who may be experiencing poor mental health, risk of social isolation, self-harm, suicide and general health and wellbeing.

I was able to kill two birds with one stone on two separate occasions (always a little win!). I had arranged meetings with RT Projects and Just for Women to discuss the progress of the SPLW small grants funded projects but as these organisations are also part of the Cree network, it made sense to complete their Cree evaluation forms at the same time.

Both meetings were productive, and — totally unrelated to social prescribing or the Cree network — I had some lovely compliments about my eldest son from Emma at RT Projects as he regularly does IT work for them. Proud mam moment!

There are many more Cree evaluation meetings to come! My diary will be full of them over the next few weeks, but it’s great to get to know more about the different projects and meet the Cree coordinators.

Today has been a very productive day. I completed a variety of admin tasks first thing this morning, the Cree network meeting was well attended and engaging, and the meeting I had arranged with Durham Learn seems as though it will lead to some positive actions.

The weekend is beckoning and — joy of joys — the sun is shining and the daffodils in my garden have finally made an appearance. Spring is in the air (at last!!)
