Looking back on 2023

The year has finished just as it started — hectic.

At the start of the year we were completing the Community Hubs Development Programme and at the end of the year we are in the midst of the Community Spaces project. Both very different but similar at the same time, making sure that we offer community organisations in the county bespoke support to help with their development.

Energy Efficiency has been a big theme in 2023, as a response to soaring energy bills and to the Climate Crisis. We have been working with organisations as they get their heads around the different technologies available to them, signposting to specialist advice and of course completing funding searches (a DCA staple!)

I am proud to say that we achieved Bronze level IIE accreditation. It was hard work but very rewarding and best of all, we got to work with the other organisations in County Durham who were going through the accreditation too.

The diary is starting to fill up for 2024 with training, meetings and events and I’m looking forward to it already.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
