Short Weeks, Longer Days.

Random facts about February:

· ‘February’ is one of the most misspelled words in the English language.

· February is the shortest month and at one point in time, had as little as 23 days.

· Birthstones of February are Amethyst and Jasper.

· February’s birth flowers are the primrose and violet.

· February gets its name from the Latin word “februum,” which implies purification.

This week has been shorter than usual due to taking a day’s holiday on Wednesday, but it also feels like this whole month has gone by in the blink of an eye.

February is recognisable as the shortest month, but owing to the fact that January always feels like it has 962 days (!!), the year’s second month feels unquestionably transient. This time next week, March will be coming in like a lion. Spring and the start of British Summertime are just round the corner!

Workwise, the week has mostly been about the Cree Evaluation — booking some more meetings in to go through the evaluation questionnaire and carrying out others via Teams and telephone. It has been wonderful to hear about the difference Cree groups make to people’s lives and what different projects offer.

Today I am looking forward to attending a Volunteer Fair at Lipscombe Hall with my colleague Charlotte — a chance to network and find out about the volunteering offer in other organisations.

So far this morning it is looking like a perfect day for a drive. I shall be looking for signs of Spring on my journey and appreciating the sunshine. Fingers crossed it lasts into the weekend.
