Well…what a Team!

It is just worth noting that I have been praying for 5pm on Friday since 8am on Monday morning. Not a good look for the ED! But we all feel like the working week just can’t go quick enough sometimes.

Every person, family or organisation faces challenges, and it is how we face these obstacles in life that really tells us who we are. I am fortunate to work in a team with colleagues who thoughtfully battle on in the face of adversity taking care to acknowledge the impact of ‘battles’ and set up good habits to assure their own resilience in a life full of change. What am I talking about I hear you say…? IT CHALLENGES for one…(and yes it does deserve capitals!).

When I noted in passing earlier in the week “don’t worry, it can only get worse…” I really wasn’t counting on that actually happening but still, we just calmly approach each set back with grace and work in partnership to get the blinking Wi-Fi working as it truly should….which it will, one day, soon.

So, all this leads me to reflect on how we demonstrate leadership in every aspect of our lives, even when we don’t think we are, particularly when we are finding it hard to ‘feel it.’ Taking a minute to list the change we have influenced or the difference we have made on the smallest to the grandest of scales really does help.

For me, the week began chairing a partnership board and ended in the delivery of wonderful opportunities for connection through a policy forum. In the middle, celebration of success at an AGM and witnessing our team relish the opportunity to learn together in an active training session kept me powering through! The day job of keeping ‘the show on the road’ never fails to tax us, but where we hold true to our core approach and the challenge of change is a shared journey, the power of our sector always shines brightly.
