Word of the week — Diversity

One of the great things about my role is diversity, we deliver such a broad range of training topics to such a broad and diverse group of people which always makes my job so interesting with the need to get the pitch, pace and detail right for the audience. This has been particularly evident this week.

I have been working closely with Charlotte on the volunteer passport programme and delivering new training to a small group of passport volunteers in preparation for their volunteer opportunities. The topics under discussion this week were health and safety, data protection and Equality, diversity and inclusion. Not topics I would call fun but there were some really interesting conversations throughout the training, particularly in relation to the benefits of a more diverse group of volunteers. As the workshops are new, I was keen to get some feedback on how the volunteers felt the sessions were going. Today we received feedback from the learners who are enjoying the training and feel it is being pitched at the right level and pace.

I have also worked with Tracy on the funding workshop this week and this was for a larger very different group of learners. Again, we have had some amazing feedback from this session even though Tracy and I have discussed ways this session can be improved. We are always looking for ways to bring more to the workshops, despite one piece of feedback from a learner saying “You can’t improve on perfection” ha ha!
