The online retail has stretched its reach to everyone. Earlier the shopping trend of any family or individual was to visit that particular shop and buy the particular article. Since the article was bought directly from the store the packaging was not given much priority. The online market has led a revolutionary change in packaging products. Every company now is laying emphasis on packaging of the product. Whenever you buy any article or product it is not only the product but the case in which it is packed appeals to you. Have you seen how much emphasis is laid on the quality? It is very important for any big brand to keep up with their name. Thus none of the brands can leave their goods packed in a flimsy way. The companies pay a huge amount of money on the packaging products to make the user experience their premium quality.

It is very obvious from the consumer point of view to expect high-end quality assurance from the firm. If anyone is paying his/her hard earned money then he/she deserves the best treatment to the very end. Also, the packaging of any product is quite important because of shipping. The safety of the product is also important and that can only be ensured by the right packaging. There are multiple options available for packaging. The packaging of any product is dependent on various factors such as:

  1. The type of product. If the product is delicate or has to be handled with care then it requires extra attention.
  2. The distance or the place where the product is shipped.
  3. The firm which is selling the product.

There are basically 7 different ways of packing the product. These are:

1. Paperboard Boxes

Paperboard boxes as the name suggest are made of simple paper. These are very easily available in the market and are very cheap. It is largely used for personal use because of its low cost and easy availability. The paperboard boxes are available in different sizes and can also be cut or folded. The option of customizing it to a particular individual’s need make it so popular in the general public. The paperboard boxes are made from the fibrous material of the pulp of tree.

There are various types of paperboard boxes available. The solid bleached sulphate is used to pack the cartons of milk, juices, cold drinks, food items, frozen food and cosmetics. It is very lightweight. The other type is coated unbleached Kraft which is very rustic in appearance. This gives the look of recycled paper and can be used to give a touch of originality.

2. Corrugated Box

The corrugated box is the most popular packaging product in the wholesale industry. It is because every second firm uses it to ship their products and packaging. It is basically a cardboard material which is made from recycled paper. The boxes are different from the general cardboard boxes because it has three layers. The middle layer is made of zig-zag cardboard material which is present between the two layers like a sandwich formation. This type of boxes are excellent shock absorbers. The main purpose of their use is that it provides a very high amount of safety to the product from various external aggressions.

3. Plastic Boxes

The second most used material in the packaging industry is plastic. Earlier only the paper made material was available for packaging but soon the plastic made itself a crucial part of it. The plastic is preferred over paper for products which are not the solid state. It is a very rigid material which allows a limited amount of flexibility. The most prominent user of plastic material is the food industry. The plastic was on the verge of replacing the paper materials as it was cheaper and can be easily produced. This, however could not happen because the main problem of the plastic material is its disposal.

4. Rigid Boxes

Have you ever noticed the boxes in which your cellphones, watches or premium articles come packed? These boxes though originally are made of paper only but are different from it. These boxes are called rigid boxes which are made by compression of the paper material. It is specifically used for premium products to give a taste of high quality. The rigid boxes are expensive to use.
